Sources from Argentina indicate that Fernandez aims to regain full match fitness ahead of the Copa America, where Argentina will be defending their title on US soil. The Argentine Football Association has been urging Fernandez to undergo surgery as soon as possible to maximize his recovery time before the summer tournament.

To completely treat this injury, Enzo will undergo surgery and is expected to be out of action for about 3 weeks. This means the Argentine midfielder will miss the rest of this season. He will only recover in time for the 2024 Copa America, scheduled to kick off on June 20.

According to Ole, Chelsea’s doctors initially sought to solve the problem with a non-invasive procedure. However, after consulting with the doctors of the Argentina national team, the two sides agreed to allow Enzo Fernandez to have surgery so that this star can play for the Argentine national team at the 2024 Copa America.

For his part, before deciding on surgery, Enzo Fernandez also consulted with a kinesiologist with whom he worked during his days at River Plate. This doctor flew directly to London to perform surgical procedures with Enzo.

Enzo Fernandez missed last week’s 6-0 win over Everton but played from the start in the two losses to Man City (FA Cup) and Arsenal (Premier League).

Enzo joined Chelsea from Benfica last January for about £107 million. Up to now, he has not shown his best form at Stamford Bridge. This season, the 23-year-old midfielder has appeared 40 times in all competitions, contributing 7 goals and 3 assists.
